Head Chef Colin Ansell’s menus combine the traditional values of fresh ingredients and excellent cooking with a 21st Century approach to flavour combinations and techniques.
As a traditional restaurant, committed to the traditional values of customer service and quality food, we have always been proud of our traditional surroundings and our building’s original Edwardian features. But having last been fully refurbished almost a decade ago, we decided that it was time to bring The Old Vicarage up to date.
Under the watchful gaze of Interior Architects Heterarchy and their expert Hanna Carlton, we developed a plan which would do this, while retaining the iconic original features and cosy atmosphere that make the Old Vicarage such a welcoming place.
This October, the plan was put in to action.
Closing the Lounge for a week enabled us to create a new bar, complete with champagne cocktails and increased choice of draught beer, with a touch of Scottish Highlands in its leather furniture and cosy atmosphere. Next door, an even cosier new Lounge will help our customers relax with their after-dinner brandy, or sink into a comfy sofa after a hard week at work in what feels like a ‘smoking room’ for the 21st Century.
The following week, with the restaurant completely closed, the team set to work on the rest of the restaurant, fully updating the restaurant, and creating a truly spectacular entrance hall which befits a quality restaurant in 2014.
We are delighted by the results, and are proud to present a restaurant which reflects Colin’s traditional yet contemporary approach. We look forward to showing you around on your next visit!
